Inspection and cleaning of ventilation systems

The general health and working capacity of a group of individuals is, to a large extent, defined by the conditions of a microclimate and the air environment in premises where they spend most of their time. The ventilation system is an integral part of the structure of any building. Today the problem of checking and cleaning a ventilation system is huge. This is a well-known fact among public health experts and maintenance employees alike. Green Group is a specialized vendor of professional air- and ventilation-cleaning equipment and boasts the leading position in the market. We’ve asked Andrey Mosenev, the managing director of Green Group, to tell us about the cleaning of ventilation systems.

- Why is this such an urgent problem?

- There is a concept - “Sick building syndrome” (SBS). People who work in such buildings develop indoor air-related symptoms (headache, muscle ache, memory and concentration difficulties, flu symptoms) without any apparent cause. Flu-like symptoms may linger for years, gnawing at the immune system. The leading cause may well be the poor quality of the air.

-How may we improve the air exchange in office  buildings?

- It is necessary to clean ventilation systems and disinfect them. However, many organizations resolve this issue differently, in a quick and dirty manner. They just replace or clean old diffusers and registers, and cover the old ducts with tiles or drywall sheets. The result is usually pleasing to the eye. Sure enough, any inspection with discover the hoax. That ostrich syndrome may just crack a few smiles.

 - And how do you organize cleaning processes?

Green Group has another approach to work. We place a remote controlled video camera system mounted on a mini tractor into a building’s ventilation systems and estimate the level of pollution. Then, we clean the ventilation systems using machines.  The machine features a flexible shaft equipped with a rotating brush.  The dust is gathered in the filters of the vacuum air-cleaning machine, which creates a strong airflow.

 - I suppose, such cleaning requires special equipment.

- Green Group was the first company to offer professional air- and ventilation-cleaning equipment in Russia. Among our clients are The Russian Duma, MGTS, the pharmaceutical company Farmapark, and Aeromar at Sheremetyevo Airport.

- Who are your main consumers?

- Food manufactures, restaurants, hotels, and business centers represent our largest market. So, I’d like to point out that hundreds of miles of ventilation systems in many buildings (such as schools, hotels, and restaurants) require professional cleaning.

We constantly work to implement new methods and technologies in order to improve the process of ventilation and air conditioner cleaning. In addition, our company has developed a price policy that is aimed at retaining our current clients and attracting new ones.
